Tonights gig is with Dan Reed in Carnegie Hall, It will be the first time we'll play as a duo. Duo in Carnegie Hall, doesn't happen every day for me at least!
After tonight one more New York adventure will come to an end...
Last week we finished the recording for the upcoming Dan Reed Band album in Portland OR in Rob Daiker's studio, that was a week of laying down grooves and having fun.
Dan has written great songs and it has been so inspiring to play on the tracks, can't wait to play the new songs live.
We also did two gigs, one in Seattle and one in Portland, great audiences on both shows!
So leaving the US tomorrow for some PhadThai with Andreas Öberg in Bangkok at the Thailand Jazz Confrenece (jan 28), hope I don't miss that flight to Asia, the weather forecast say's that tomorrow will be stormy here on the east coast. I wish 2011 will be a year without volcanoes erupting and horrible weather, at least not when we're on the road!! : )
Playing with Andreas is always great fun and challenging, since we haven't toured that much the last years, this gig is going to be something special. Kristian "kling" Lind is joining us in the trio setup.
Next after that is Barcelona for the first gig this year with Magnus Lindgren Batucada Jazz, the gig is on feb 1 at a place called Luz De Gaz.
2011 seem to be busy for this band, we have more dates in Sweden but also a bunch of dates in europe, especially Germany.
I have some new drumkit-batucada-rythms for Magnus songs that I'm gonna try out, that's gonna be piquant to see how that works!
Time is the name off the 2nd album with Erik Lindeborg Trio. We will perform the compositions from that album on a tour in Sweden in february, 10 concerts are planned, from Malmö all the way up to Umeå! 3 of the gigs will be video recorded and might be a live-dvd in the future.
March month will start up with a bunch of concerts in Sweden with my teenage idol Louise Hoffsten, we haven't been on the road since 2009 so I've been missing her voice and great performance a lot!
The first gig with Nils Landgren Funk Unit this year is in Bergamo-Italy in march 20, Funk Unit is not gonna be as busy this year like last year.
2010 we did europe, north america, asia and africa and the album Funk For Life has therefor being spread all over the place which is great for many reasons, especially cause we did the album together with Medicines San Frontiers. The album sold gold immediately in Germany and has because of that collected descent money for the clinics that Medicines San Frontiers are constructing for example in Kibera-Nairobi.
So more grooves and fresh new beats in the begninning of 2011 for sure!
