Biography
Robert Mehmet Sinan Ikiz, born 1979 in Istanbul, Turkey. Moved to Stockholm, Sweden 1982. Started to play 1991 with the Stockholm trio "Straight Ahead" formed by the eminent guitarist Lars Dohlon. During 1991-1996 the band toured and played concerts and festivals in Sweden.
Studied at Stockholm music conservatory between 1995-1998 in the afro-american program from where he won the annual competiton and received a scholarship to Los Angeles music academy.
Tony Inzalaco, Sherman Ferguson and Joe Porcaro were some of the teachers he studied with in Los Angeles. After the school Ikiz received scholarships from the Swedish royal music academy in Percussion 1999 & 2003 and in Jazz 2004.
Has performed, recorded or held workshops in Sweden, Turkey, U.S.A., Australia, China, France, Mexico, Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, Romania, Norway, Serbia/Montenegro...
Ikiz is participating on numerous albums with international artists/musicians.
